Hmmm. It’s a long weekend, we’ve got time to blow and we are not sure what’s happening around the city. Where could I go to get a few ideas? Well, right here!
- Saturday is Canada Day and we would be remiss if we did not mention this. A boatload of activities are planned for the 150th birthday being celebrated locally at Diefenbaker Park. Things start at 8 a.m. and will go until the fireworks spectacular planned for 10:30 p.m.
- The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival concludes this weekend. If you enjoy live music, there are plenty of options. Even a visit to the free stage and the beer garden would be time well spent.
- The Royal Canadian Circus Under the Big Top is here for the weekend with performances at the Wyant Group Raceway. It starts today and runs through Monday. A highlight is the Duo Guerrero highwire act, which was seen last year on America’s Got Talent.
- Want some theatre a little way out of town? Go see Jake and The Kid at the Barn Playhouse, 25 km north of Saskatoon. It closes Sunday.
- When was the last time you were at the Western Development Museum? It’s a great place to visit and step back in time to see how life on the prairies was way back when. A visit to the WDM also might get you out of the summer heat for a few hours, too. Something to consider.
