Now that Christmas is over for another year, we have to gear up to greet 2018 with open arms. Here are a few ideas for ways to finish 2017 and embrace 2018.

Get ready to enjoy Home For the Holidays Friday at Knox United Church. A concert benefitting the Saskatoon Opera, it brings some of the city’s best voices to your ears beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Perhaps a little ‘wrasslin’ is more your thing. A legend of the squared circle, Jake “The Snake” Roberts will be in town to ring in the new year on Sunday night at the Cosmo Civic Centre for the CWE Live in Saskatoon event. A few bucks more than the ticket price gets you into a meet-and-greet with the man himself beginning at 6:30 p.m. The bell rings at 7:30 p.m. for all the other action.

As temperatures hopefully moderate somewhat, why not grab the kids and head to Pest Hill or Diefenbaker Hill for some sledding action? Those two spots offer some of the best snow-filled fun in the city.

Perhaps a five-kilometre run will get you going. Starting at the YMCA Saskatoon, the annual Resolution Run will have your new year off to a good start. Race time is Monday at 10 a.m. for the 1K and 10:15 a.m. for the 5K. Dress warmly.

Our Saskatoon Blades have a New Year’s Day tilt against the Swift Current Broncos at SaskTel Centre. The puck drops at 2:05 p.m.
