Huskies and dogs are two options this weekend: Five Things for Jan. 26-28

Surprisingly, it’s the final weekend of January. Boy, does time fly when you’re having fun. Here are a few entertaining options for the weekend.

The annual Nutrien WinterShines Festival runs Saturday through Feb. 4 with all sorts of family things to do at or near the Saskatoon Farmers Market. Check out their website for a complete list of activities at www.nutrienwintershines.ca.

Saskatoon Oboist Berlin Janzen joins the Saskatoon Philharmonic Orchestra Saturday at Robert Hinitt Castle Theatre at Aden Bowman Collegiate. Janzen will perform Vincenzo Bellini’s Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra. The concert starts at 7:30.

Fans of Huskie Athletics have a few options this weekend. Both volleyball teams will be on campus Friday and Saturday nights. It’s their final home weekend of the season. As well, the women’s hockey team will be playing the UBC Thunderbirds both nights at the venerable Rutherford Rink.

Dakota Dunes has landed a big fish tonight with country artist Brett Kissel set to perform. Show time is 8 p.m.

Here’s one for Sunday night before you think about work again. The 2018 Chinese New Year Celebration Concert will give you a sense of the culture through its Year of the Dog celebrations.
