It’s not officially fall, but the summer season concludes this weekend with the arrival of the Labour Day weekend in Saskatchewan. That being said, there are still many things that will buoy your spirit through this long weekend.
— The Nutrien Fireworks Festival runs this weekend and it’ll be a blast. Bad puns aside, this annual event is quite the spectacle. It’s best to enjoy close up, so make sure you give yourself enough time to find a good spot as traffic could be cumbersome. This year’s spectacle begins promptly at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the River Landing area of downtown.
— Legendary wrestler Mick Foley is in town Saturday night at the Broadway Theatre to talk about his storied WWE career in a Q & A format. This unique event begins at 8 p.m.
— The U of S Huskies football team has its first game of the season Friday at 7 p.m. versus the Bears from U of A at Griffiths Stadium. It’s a special kick-off night to the season with a salute to our troops. It’s a great night to get behind the football program from another fall of fantastic football.
— Le Burger Week starts Friday in Saskatoon. This is the chance to rate your fave place and your fave burger in an online poll. Go to www.leburgerweek.com to find a listing of the 14 participating restaurants in Saskatoon. The fun and tasty contest runs through Sept. 7.
— There are only two weeks left on the Marquis Downs racing schedule so get out and enjoy some hoof-pounding fun while you can. Racing Friday and Saturday begins at 6:35 p.m.
