We are halfway through October with many local events to occupy our time. Here are a few ideas that might tickle your fancy:
— Only two months and change remain until Christmas. Here is an idea to get you moving and stimulate your holiday purchase planning: More than 100 crafters will be at the Western Development Museum Friday and Saturday to entice you with their wares. There’s no shortage of ideas here for those hard to buy for family and friends.
— One of the highlights on the German calendar every year is the annual Oktoberfest. This fun-filled event takes place, of course, at the German Cultural Centre Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight. A good time is guaranteed.
— One of Saskatchewan’s top musical exports returns to Saskatoon tonight and Saturday night. Colter Wall plays the downtown Coors Event Centre starting at 7 p.m. You will quickly understand what all the fuss is about.
— On Sunday, our Saskatoon Blades take on the rival Prince Albert Raiders at 2 p.m. at SaskTel Centre. Make sure to bring your own skates because after the game, fans are encouraged to stay for the Mosaic Family Day Skate event. Every member of the Blades will be on hand to meet and greet the fans. Be sure to ask for an autograph from your favourite player.
— Donna Birkmaier Park in Briarwood is the place to be Saturday afternoon if a zombie walk/run interests you. The fifth annual SWITCH zombie run fundraiser begins at 1 p.m. For more information, check out www.switchzombierun.ca.
