After a holiday slowdown, the wheels of the new year are spinning already. Let’s get started:

— Why not get out and support our Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday night as they have their home-opener against San Diego? Everything gets started at 7:30 p.m. at SaskTel Centre. If you haven’t been to a game yet, perhaps this is a good new year’s resolution to consider.

— The BHP Enchanted Forest Holiday Light tour wraps up this weekend after another successful year of brightening the holiday spirit for many. Friday night is the last evening for drive-thru traffic from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday night is the Saskatchewan Blue Cross Light Walk from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then the lights go dark after another successful season.

— The Bassment offers a great weekend of music with the Karpinka Brothers on Friday starting at 9 p.m. The Gerard Weber Group takes to the stage on Saturday at 8 p.m. and highlights the music of Pat Metheny.

— Huskie Athletics get back into action this weekend on campus. Both men’s and women’s basketball teams play the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Friday and Saturday nights at the PAC. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. and the men follow at 8.

— This is also the final weekend for the Eaton’s Once Upon A Christmas display at the Western Development Museum. As the Christmas season winds down for another year, this will give you one last look at what made it so special all those years ago.
